A player hits a shot to score a point by striking the cue ball with the tip of the cue aiming being to pot one of the red balls into a pocket at the corners/sides of the table. If a player pots a ball of a certain colour, the value of that balls’ colour is added to his or her score. 

The ball is returned to its correct position on the table. 
Then the player must pot another same colour ball, then another colour, and so on. This process continues until the striker fails to pot the required ball. On failure to pot the desired ball, an opponent comes back to the table to play the next shot.
